About Julie

Julie Guével Goldstone is a French-American director whose cinematic voice captures the beauty of intimacy and human connection. Her first short film, The Elevator, premiered at New York Fashion Week and went on to earn several international awards, including honors from the Cannes World Film Festival and the Paris Play Film Festival.

Before entering the world of film, Julie was an acclaimed commercial and editorial photographer, with work featured in VogueThe New York Times, and numerous other global publications. Her creative approach — blending light, motion, and emotion — naturally evolved into storytelling through film.

With Callo, Julie is currently developing three major projects:

  • If You Know You Know — her debut feature, written by Tiwa Lade and produced by Annie Huang, both collaborators she met through Callo.

  • Demi-Sel, an expansion of her Callo-developed short The Dish, now in feature development.

  • 1020, pilot starring Ally Maki, co-created with Sherry Cola and R.K. Russell, and produced by Annie Huang. The film begins production this November 2025.

Across these works, Julie continues to explore themes of identity, vulnerability, and quiet moments of connection — hallmarks of her storytelling style.

Discovering Callo

Julie first discovered Callo through Women In Film, where the platform was featured as a resource for creators. A single 20-minute demo with Callo was enough to confirm that this was, as Julie puts it, “the perfect way to launch my films.”

The Callo Impact

When Julie joined Callo, she was at the very beginning of her feature film journey — unsure how to move from concept to production. Callo bridged that gap completely.

Through structured guidanceeducational resources, and hands-on creative matching, Callo transformed her process. Within her first two months on the platform, Julie connected with:

  • 5 vetted writers through Callo’s matching team, leading to her partnership with Tiwa Lade.

  • 2 producers with aligned creative visions, including Annie Huang, who joined as a lead producer on her debut feature.

  • Over a dozen peer creators, helping refine her pitch deck and distribution strategy.

Her project materials — lookbook and production roadmap — improved to a professional standard, resulting in a 85% faster turnaround on packaging and a 3x increase in meeting requests from potential investors and collaborators.

“It feels like Callo is an extra team member on every project — one that’s deeply invested in helping me bring everything to life.”

Building Community and Confidence

The biggest difference for Julie has been the sense of partnership. With Callo’s support, she’s developed a sustainable workflow for creative development — from project ideation to packaging — saving an estimated 100+ hours per project in research, outreach, and logistics.

Julie’s Advice to Fellow Creators

  • Get Slate (Premium Offering) — taking a project through Callo's premium system provides structure and confidence at every stage.

  • Leverage the Collaborators tab — Julie calls it her “favorite part of Callo,” noting how intuitive and impactful the matching process is.

When asked to describe her Callo experience in one word, Julie doesn’t hesitate:

“Community.”
